Application Deadlines

Fall Semester

Transfer Students must apply by May 1.

First-Year (Freshman) applying for Early Decision must submit their applications by November 15. If applying for Early Decision 2 or Regular Decision, First-Year applicants must submit their applications by January 15.

Spring Semester

All Spring Semester applications are due October 1 for both First-Year and Transfer applicants.

Transfer Applicants

Students with a high school diploma or equivalent and college credit hours may apply as a transfer student using the Common Application for Transfers. For additional information on how to apply, visit www.american.edu/admissions/apply

International Applicants

International applicants intending to apply as a First-Year international student or a U.S. Global Nomad should use the First-Year Common Application above to apply. For more information about applying as a First-Year international student, visit www.american.edu/admissions/international/instructions.

International applicants who have begun a study at an accredited college or university after obtaining the equivalent of a high school diploma, either in the United States or in their home country, may apply as an International Transfer Student and should use the Common Application for Transfer above to apply. Previously Enrolled AU Students

Undergraduate students previously enrolled at AU who are applying for readmission should submit the AU Readmit Application, including an interruption of studies statement detailing the circumstances behind leaving AU, activities or work experience since leaving AU, and reasons for returning to AU. Previously enrolled applicants must also submit official transcripts from each college/university attended since last enrolled at AU.

Special Program Applications

Special Progam Applications are open to first-year applicants only. To apply for a special academic program, you are strongly encouraged to submit your special program application by the priority deadline of December 15, although we will continue to accept special program applications until January 15. Notifications for special academic programs will not be released until April 1, regardless of your admissions application deadline. You may submit multiple special program applications.
